Northeastern Illinois University to Receive AACTE Award for their work, especially with Grow Your Own

The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) will present its 2012 Best Practice Award in Support of Global Diversity to the Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) College of Education. The award, which recognizes a school, college or department of education that fosters diversity, equity and global awareness as core elements of its teacher education program(s), will be presented February 19 at AACTE’s 64th Annual Meeting in Chicago.

Reflection: Vision, Practice and Moving Ahead – GYO at Year 6

The 2011 Grow Your Own Illinois Statewide Learning Network meeting took place November 10 and 11 at National-Louis University in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Pedro Noguera provides the Closing Plenary: "Teaching for Social Justice: What Teachers Can Do to Make a Difference in the Lives of Our Most Disadvantaged Children." Dr. Noguera is the Peter L. Agnew Professor of Education at Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Development at New York University. He is also the Executive Director of Metropolitan Center for Urban Education.
