Welcome to the website of Grow Your Own Illinois, an independent 501(c)(3) organization working to assist Grow Your Own Teachers projects based on the Illinois Grow Your Own Teachers Act, and promoting the improvement of teaching in low-income communities in Illinois and elsewhere. UPDATE 5/15/10: Appropriation, Other Major Changes in the works

The House has passed an appropriation of $3.5 million for FY 11 for GYO, but the decision may rest with the Governor. Meanwhile, a bill is pending which would transfer the management of the program from ISBE to IBHE [more...]

Nearly 200 candidates, staff, and friends of GYO came to the Capitol Rotunda for the second annual Grow Your Own Teachers Day - a chance to celebrate the successes of the program and project its future. More info here.
