In January 2007, the State Board of Education passed a series of changes to the Grow Your Own program rules originally approved in 2005. The changes are for the most part responses to the changes in the state law in SB 2235 - focusing on various aspects of the use and management of the forgivable loan component of the program. In July, 2006 ISBE issued its RFP for implementation grants under the program, with a "rolling deadline". You may view the RFP here, along with commentary on the narrative portion of the requirements, and some tools for the budget portion. The final deadline for this year's grants is passed, but a similar RFP may be released for FY08 soon.
Also in January 2007, ISBE is soliciting a second round of proposals for planning grants from potential consortia that are seeking to sponsor Grow Your Own Teachers programs. Here are those guidelines.
