Statewide Learning Network Meeting and Organizer Training, December 7-8, 2006, Chicago

These meetings were held at the Chicago Resource Center, a professional development facility for Chicago teachers run by Northeastern Illinois University. Angela Mojekwu of ACORN handled logistics.

The SLN meeting on December 7th was largely devoted to breakout sessions in which participants had a chance to describe their successes and challenges in the implementation process. At the end of the day, the group had another chance to hear from Charles Payne of Duke University who had been the keynote speaker at the May Summit meeting; Charles talked about the complexity of the issue of good teaching in predominantly low-income schools.

The Organizer Training session on December 8th drew about 45 participants, about half of whom are currently candidates in Grow Your Own programs.
