ISBE has released the requirements for extension applications (FY 07 funds). The deadline is May 31st. The deadline for Renewal applications for FY08 funds has not been set.
EXTENSION
Since many projects did not start at the beginning of the Fall term, there are some funds remaining in the FY 2007 appropriation, and ISBE has decided to offer all current implementation grant projects an additional $50,000 in funding, and $25,000 to the three current planning grant projects. At the same time, ISBE will allow projects to ask that their grants be officially extended through August 31st - which means that projects will have until that date to obligate FY 07 grant funds. The additional funds can be used to cover forgivable loans and additional expenses for this period, and can be applied to forgivable loan amounts incurred for classes in the Fall that candidates register for by the August 31st date.
ISBE is asking that existing projects apply for their extensions as a budget amendment, based on the approved budget for this year. We have consolidated the documents related to this process into a single PDF file here. We will be posting additional questions and answers about this process on the GYO Illinois Forum.
RENEWAL
All current implementation grant projects will have to submit a renewal application this summer. ISBE has not yet announced the process for this application. (Note that when these documents are released, the name may be changed to "Continuation Application". )
The original Logan Square Grow Your Own project, Nueva Generacion, submitted an application that may be used by ISBE as model for the narrative part of this application. We have prepared a brief outline of this narrative here.
As soon as additional information is available it will be posted here.
